Project summary

ICOBI is implementing a project aimed at advocating and creating demand for malaria and HIV prevention and treatment services in northern Uganda districts of Lira, Apac, Otuke and Kole. The project is specifically to increase demand and promote social and behavioral change for HIV prevention services (including VMMC, HTC, DREAMS interventions) among the key/priority populations; promote condom use among key population; create awareness and demand for malaria prevention and treatment services that include IPT in pregnancy and use of insect side treated mosquito nets among expectant mothers, under-5 children and the general population; and increase advocacy against gender based violence and strengthen linkage for case management for GBV survivors.

Project districts: Lira, Apac, Otuke and Kole

Project goal: The goal of the project is to advocate and create demand for malaria and HIV prevention services in northern Uganda districts of Lira, Apac, Otuke and Kole.

Project Objectives:
1. Increase demand and promote social and behavioral change for HIV prevention services (including VMMC, HTC and linkage to care and treatment) among the key/priority populations, sexually active adolescents and young adults
2. To promote safer sexual practices including correct and consistent condom use among key population/priority population, adolescent girls and young women and their partners
3. To create awareness and demand for malaria prevention services that include use of insect side treated mosquito nets among expectant mothers and the general population.
4. To create demand for integrated SRHR/HIV services among the adolescent girls and young women by mobilizing and empowering them with information to make healthier choices in relation to SRHR/HIV
5. Increase advocacy against gender based violence and strengthen linkage for case management for GBV survivors.
