Each year, the Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) together with HIV&AIDS Implementing partners, AIDS Development Partners (ADPs), Civil Society, People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and Ministries, Departments and Agencies celebrate and honor the contribution made by individuals and organizations for their outstanding commitment & support to the HIV/AIDS response in Uganda.
The public was invited to nominate individuals and organizations to receive the prestigious annual Uganda HIV&AIDS Leadership Award. A Technical Review Committee composed of experts in the HIV/AIDS sector evaluated the nominations and selected three finalists in each category, from which a winner was selected for the Award.
For 2016, three awards were granted to successful nominees who have made significant contributions in one of these categories;
1. The Uganda HIV&AIDS Leader of the Year (Individual)
2. The Uganda HIV&AIDS Leader of the Year (National NGO)
3. The Uganda HIV&AIDS Leader of the Year (Community Based Organization)
The awards were presented to the winners on 31st August 2016 during the Partnership Forum, which was convened after the Joint Annual AIDS Review (JAR) meeting scheduled on 30th August 2016.
ICOBI, represented by it’s Executive Director, Dr. Stephen Asiimwe emerged as 2nd Runner’s up in the The Uganda HIV&AIDS Leader of the Year (National NGO) category.
